Baby’s First Broadway

Baby's first broadway

Now I cannot say for certain whether this child was actually in the theater or not, but I do applaud the parents for taking pictures of their child next to important New York City landmarks.

Is it cool or creepy that I seem to have this thing about taking pictures from the second floor of Sardis? That’s what happens when you have a tangueray and tonic in your hand and a camera in your handbag.

The cast and crew are in the middle of an evening show, which is the last of the “special holiday schedule” performances. We usually don’t have Sunday evening shows, though we do have one coming up on the 17th that is a benefit performance for the Actors Fund.

Fun Fact: The Actors Fund has changed my life here in the city. If you are new to the city and don’t know about the Al Hirschfeld Health Clinic, check them out.

There were so many email requests for tickets this week for the 31st and the 1st that I actually had to create an email template that said:

“Thank you for your interest in Memphis. Due to our special holiday schedule, we do not have performances on December 31st or January 1st. We would be happy to submit your requests for either of our matinee or evening performances on the 2nd or 3rd. Thank You and Hockadoo.”

I, personally, would love to have seen Memphis on New Year’s Eve. Maybe next year, the FANtasticals, or Memphisheads, whatever you prefered to be called, can rally together and petition for a New Year’s Eve performance to be added to the special holiday performance schedule.

Even if the actors didn’t want to do it, I bet the entire bar/merch/associate staff (myself, Tegan and Sarah included) of Memphis would be happy to jump up onstage and do the entire show + choreography.

Perhaps Joe could work on that 540…

It would indeed be a memorable New Year’s Eve.

  2. I’m sure if the bar/merch/associate staff didn’t want to do it, we memphisheads/fantasticals/memphians (that’s my personal favorite fan name, I met some people at the stage door once who were actually from Memphis and that’s what they called themselves) would be glad to lend a hand in performing on New Years Eve ;-)

In any case, I’d be all for a New Years Eve performance! I’ll start getting the petition together myself!
