Cited as “possibly the season’s most dazzling talent show,” the GYPSY OF THE YEAR COMPETITION features New York’s most talented “gypsies” (chorus members from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows) in a competitive variety show.
The event is the culmination of six weeks of fund-raising when shows on and Off-Broadway engage in a friendly competition to see which show can raise the most money for BC/EFA. Awards are presented to the shows raising the most money and to the winning presentation. (Rumors are circulating that A Steady Rain, starring Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig will run away with the top honor this year having raised a gazillion dollars auctioning off their show undershirts. Whatever it takes for the cause!)
